Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the End of World War II

September 2nd, 1945

Legacy is a tribute to the millions of soldiers who fought and died in World War 2. Their valiant sacrifice is reimagined in this solemn elegy. A thoughtful hymn from the trumpets sets the tone for the rest of this inspiring composition, which is complimented by moving chorales and heroic fanfares. This profound sense of loss, dignity, and bittersweet honor is humbly portrayed in this emotional poem, memorializing the end of World War 2 in song.

As I was writing the first few sketches of this composition, I began to think about how important this piece is going to be. All the weight and pressure on creating a piece that will honor our fallen won’t surpass the amount of sacrifice that they have given. However, the more I write, the more I feel like I need to try; to make this work as perfect as possible. It is the least that I could do to express the gratitude of both myself and that of our country to those who died protecting our world. Honor is more than just representing values, and sacrifice is more than just dying for a country. These men and women believed in a purpose that is higher than their own, and that is something worth remembering.

For those who made the ultimate sacrifice in World War 2, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. This piece is dedicated to you.

For those families whose relatives and members have given themselves during World War 2 or are currently serving in our armed forces, I thank you for your family sacrifice. I hope this piece does well in honoring you and your family.

For our men and women currently serving in our armed forces, thank you for answering the call. Know that I will pray for your safety and protection and that this piece is also a tribute to you.
